280slides.com

Awesome site that allows you to create and present presentations entirely online, like Google Docs for Powerpoint. What makes the site really cool is that the entire thing is done using HTML/Ajax, instead of Flash, so it's really Web 2.0 in the sense that it's really responsive, and if you were to go full-screen with your browser (F11), you may not even realize you're using a browser.

Yaaaayy, Jeff's redesigning his website!

No, really, I am.  I'm just really busy all the time, okay?  I'll be modifying this template so it matches my website's layout real soon.

Really.  I promise.

Increase your wireless signal strength using a soda can | YourITronics

Increase your wireless signal strength using a soda can YourITronics

Increase your wireless signal strength using a soda can | YourITronics

Increase your wireless signal strength using a soda can YourITronics

Here are some suggestions ...

1. Keep the wireless router always in the middle of your House ( Not at corners).
2. Keep the wireless router not closer to any electronic or electrical system ., ex: microwave, tv. ... to avoid interferences.
3. Keep the wireless router at a highter elevation. ( Think your router like a wireless antenna towers build by wireless companies. Most of them will be over a hill, in remote areas.) Same thing applies for routers too.
4. Buying a higher db bandwidth antenna will not help always.
5. Move to n router. ( g is old ).

Windows Experience Index - blank?

Took me a while to find this. If you're unable to update your Windows Experience Index score because the "Performance Information and Tools" window is just blank, etc., here's what worked for me:

  • Click Start, type regedit.exe and press ENTER
  • Navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Performance Control Panel
  • In the right-pane, look for the value named "PerfcplEnabled" and delete it, if found.
  • Also, delete the "PerfcplEnabled" value from the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Performance Control Panel
Note - didn't find the value under HKCU but didn't matter; after deleting it from HKLM everything came back and started working again.

Import accounts info and messages from Windows Mail to Outlook 2007

Accounts info:

  1. File menu - Import and Export
  2. Import Internet Mail Account Settings
  3. Select "Microsoft Outlook Express or Microsoft Windows Mail"
  4. Select the account whose settings you want to import. Nope, you can't CTRL + Select or Select All or anything - you have to do them one at a time from a list that uses about 25% of the available space in the dialog box. Whoever designed that needs to be relocated to a different job than designing dialog boxes.
  5. The next few boxes are the standard account set up dialogs, with the info pre-filled. Verify each dialog and click Next.

Messages:

  1. File menu - Import and Export
  2. Import Internet Mail and Addresses
  3. Select Outlook Express or Windows Mail
  4. Check the appopriate checkboxes below and click Next.
